Former National Security Adviser, Sambo Dasuki, will be a witness in the trial of former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Olisa Metuh.

What’s happening?:

Both men are facing allegations of misappropriation in different courts. But Metuh is alleged to have received N400 million from Dasuki while the latter served as NSA.Last December, Metuh asked trial judge, Justice Okon Abang of the Federal High Court in Abuja, for a subpoena to be issued to compel Dasuki to appear as his witness. Justice Abang refused the application. Metuh decided to appeal the ruling.

The order:

In a unanimous judgement, the three-man panel of the Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, presided by Justice Peter Olabisi Ige, asked Justice Abang to resume proceedings in the case immediately. The court granted Metuh’s request and ruled that Dasuki is a relevant and compelling witness in the suit.It ordered Justice Abang to promptly sign the subpoena to facilitate the former NSA’s appearance. The court also directed the Department of State Security (DSS), who are holding the former NSA in custody, to produce him in court on the day his testimony would be required.
